Where to Start If You’re New to Real Estate Investing

When I first started exploring real estate, I felt overwhelmed by how much I didn’t know.  There’s a lot of information out there, and it’s easy to feel like you’re behind before you even begin.

If you’re someone who is:

  • risk-averse
  • a perfectionist
  • or waiting until you feel “fully ready”

I want you to know that you’re not alone in that.

These are a few resources that helped me build both the knowledge and the confidence to take my first step.

🎧 BiggerPockets Podcast

This was one of the first places I consistently turned to.

The BiggerPockets Podcast offers real conversations with investors at different stages, practical breakdowns of deals, and a wide range of strategies.

If you’re just getting started, I recommend beginning with:

  • beginner or “rookie” episodes
  • topics like house hacking
  • and conversations around multifamily properties

📖 Rich Dad Poor Dad

This book is less about how to invest and more about how to think.

It helped shift my mindset around money, assets, and what it actually means to build wealth.

That mindset shift is foundational before making any major financial decision.

📘 The Book on Investing in Real Estate with No (and Low) Money Down

This is one of the most practical, beginner-friendly resources I came across. Check out the book here!

It breaks down real strategies people use to get started without large amounts of capital, including:

  • partnerships
  • seller financing
  • creative deal structures

It helped make the process feel more accessible and less intimidating.

🧠 Final Thoughts: Start Before You Feel Ready

At some point, learning has to turn into action. Not because you feel completely ready, but because you’ve decided that growth requires movement.

You take the step
even if you’re unsure
even if it’s not perfect
even if you still have questions

Because your first investment doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to move you forward.

You don’t need to know everything to get started. You just need to commit to learning a little more each week, and being willing to act on what you learn.

If you’re at the beginning of your real estate journey, I hope this gives you a starting point, not just in resources, but in mindset!

You don’t have to rush the process. You just have to begin it.

More to come as I continue learning and sharing along the way.
