Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Liz is no stranger to domestic and international travel and has lived in multiple states in the U.S. before landing right here in Los Angeles. Turning her passion for travel into entrepreneurship, Liz created and founded her travel company, Wandherlust Travels, where she combines unique travel experiences and networking to support the 21st century woman on her path to international travel and adventure! New to the travel game, Lauren went from zero to hundred, real quick! Jumping in head first, she took the leap into solo travel and was pleasantly surprised. Like most, Lauren initially was not on board with taking trips on her own but after a little convincing, she completed her first solo trip last year and is now completely sold on the idea. She’s even expressed that solo travel could be her “new thing!” She just needed a little push to get over any anxious feelings and quite honestly she’s a natural at this whole thing. Lisa is proof that even with retirement on the horizon it’s never too late to get out of your comfort-zone and try something new, including solo travel! And that’s exactly what she did, on her 60th birthday at that! Since I’ve known Lisa she’s always been a fearless go-getter who’s always down for an adventure. MEET MARQUISE: THE HAITIAN-AMERICAN NOMAD SERVING THE GLOBE
As a budding globe trotter and soccer enthusiast, Marquise has made it a point to take advantage of every opportunity to travel, even if it’s just to catch a Borussia Dortmund game in Germany, which she’s done before. Her global perspective and love for travel began at home where she understood just how big the world was at an early age. With parents who immigrated from the beautiful country of Haiti, Marquise traveled to the island often for family and service trips. Through this upbringing, she has always been interested in exploring new places, meeting people of different backgrounds, and the occasional soccer game abroad. MEET LIZ: THE SALVADORAN TRAVEL ENTHUSIAST ON MISSION TO SERVE CENTRAL AMERICA
Two things about Liz, she loves Jesus and has a heart of service for Central America! With her family roots in El Salvador, she has always longed to serve her country and the broader region as a missionary. However, she’ll be the first to say that serving in this capacity is not easy. Even with her love for travel and people, each adventure in the field comes with a level of personal sacrifices and anxiety that she has to confront every time. But her willingness to go beyond her comfort zone and be a light to nations is always worth it in the end. More on her Travel 2 Serve Spotlight HERE.
MEET RUTHIE: THE ERITREAN-SWEDISH GLOBETROTTER WITH A HEART FOR AFRICA
Ruthie’s travel journey started early, beginning when her family immigrated to Sweden from Eritrea, by way of Italy due to the war back home. Growing up with hardworking parents who also valued travel, Ruthie credits her global exposure to her parents who traveled within their means and still managed to take her on road trips as a child all throughout Europe. By the age of 10, she visited Norway, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France and the UK! She saw the world through these family vacations and in turn, traveling became a way of life for her as an adult. More on her Travel 2 Serve Spotlight HERE.
